Kick-off Leiden Host Project!

After obtaining permission from Amsterdam's Mayor Van der Laan, the "Leiden Host" project could be launched yesterday (1 June 2017) via a joint kick-off. The aim of this project is to prevent incidents in the Leiden area by means of good hospitable and service-oriented guidance of the nightlife public. In order to achieve this, International Security Agency (ISA) has been chosen by the BIZ association Uitgaansgebied Leidsebuurt as a partner to deploy four Leiden Hosts during the six-month pilot phase on traditional night out (Friday and Saturday).

The reason for the deployment of the Leiden Hosts was the fact that the number of incidents in the Leidse Buurt had reached a level that was of concern not only to the municipality and the police, but also to business owners. After various discussions with all stakeholders, the idea of using Hosts on the busiest night of the night came up.

The Leidsebuurt entertainment area is home to around 150 pubs, bars, clubs, discotheques, coffee shops, restaurants and fast food outlets. Only a limited number of these establishments use doormen to ensure peace and safety in and around their premises. Many of the incidents take place in the public area on the street and/or at catering establishments that do not have a doorman at their disposal. The BIZ Vereniging uitgangsgebied Leidsebuurt (association for the Leidsebuurt entertainment district) wants to prevent incidents by deploying the Leiden Hosts of ISA, who are visibly and preventively active on the street.

Geert Sijtzema, managing director of ISA: "The entrepreneurs of the BIZ association Uitgaansgebied Leidsebuurt show a high degree of solidarity and willingness to invest in security measures themselves. In my opinion, this is unique! As an organisation, we were able to prepare the assignment well internally and selected a dedicated group of employees with extensive experience. These employees have received specific training through our ISA_Academy so as to be able to carry out this job in the most preventive, proactive and de-escalating way possible. I am therefore confident that the efforts of the Leidsebuurt will help to reduce the nuisance and unsafety in the Leidsebuurt and lead to a more hospitable and better quality entertainment area."
